19 km. Relatively easy day today. Gentle hills, waking both on and off roads. The only challenge was the gusty wind that I was walking against in the morning, then later again during the last two hours. Clouds were moving in and out, but no rain.
Since I knew I didn’t have far to go today, I got a relaxed start. After breakfast, I put on my barefoot shoes to take a walk, stretch my feet, and check out some of the ocean views I couldn’t see yesterday. Wow! That was probably a highlight of the day. We are back up on beautiful cliffs. It is hard to capture the water color when it’s not sunny, but I attached some attempts below.
I walked alone today. I briefly connected with a group of four Spanish pilgrims, but they were having their backpacks transferred so were too fast for me. There were some scenery highlights, such as walking into Luarca, but much of the day was unremarkable compared to other days. I think I felt this because the walk was through a logging area for a while. I find logged hillsides harder to take than the industrial areas. I know it’s essential, and often these days logging is done in a sustainable way. I just love trees and find bare or thinned hillsides hard to look at.
Today should have been a breeze, but instead I was really feeling the weight of my pack and boots. I arrived in Luarca very tired. In fact, I think I may have made a decision that should horrify you: I am not going to do laundry. If you were here and could witness (experience) the state of my clothes, you might try to persuade me. But you are not here, so I am living happily in the illusion that, ‘It’s cold outside, so my clothes don’t stink.’

Wonderful photos!! And I‘m sure laundry can wait a couple of days longer 😊
